Bill has worked in private practice and SA's Crown Prosecutor's office before spending several years in Hong Kong where he was with the Attorney General's Chambers. He returned to SA and signed the Bar Roll in 1991. He practises predominantly in the field of criminal law. He has appeared as counsel in some of the State's most notorious murder trials. He has sat as an Acting Coroner and was counsel assisting the coroner in the Wangary [Eyre Peninsula] Bushfire Enquiry.
Bill took silk in 2010. He is a member of the Bar's Criminal Law Committee and has served as Chair of that group. He is a visiting member of Albert Wolff Chambers in Perth. He is the first Deputy Presiding Member of the Parole Board of South Australia.
